Dear Norma and all you wonderful paladins at Kitten Rescue,
Howie,
Louie,
and me, Rio,
wanted to let you know just how happy we are at our new home that you found for us. July 2010 was spectacularly good for us! You took such good care of us!
For starters, I finally got home with Ruth and George, and who did I find already there? Howie and Louie! And here I’d thought I’d seen the last of their mischievous hides! Howie pretended he didn’t know me, and growled every time I came by, but I just ignored him. Louie was happy to see me, and we explored our new home together.
What a huge place! Kitten Rescue was comfey and safe and happy, but this new place you could get lost in! All those places to hide! Long stretches to chase Louie and his long tail – hehe! I like playing with those boys’ tails! And there are lots of places to lurk, so I can drop onto Howie and Louie! The fringe around the bed – so many STRINGS! I only sneeze once in a while when I lurk under the bed. They can’t see me under there, ‘cause I’m Stealth Kitty!
George and Ruth got us a kitty tree:
There are those Orange Brothers up on top. They think they’re so cool!
Howie and Louie fit in Ruth’s in-basket then. Not any more!!
Howie finally gave up growling at me, and now we are all buddies – ‘cept I know I’m really in charge. They are so noisy and so rowdy! I’m dignified. Ruth says I’m sneaky – I really don’t know what she’s talking about.
I showed those boys how to climb on the bookcases and how to get to the top of the kitchen!
We like to watch Kitty TV.
George and Ruth put funny smelling nuts outside the door, and all the fluttery jays and crows and the scurrying squirrels entertain us for a long time. For some reason Howie, Louie and I get this funny chattering sound in our jaws, and oh, my! Kitty TV is just SO exciting!
We found a place to file ourselves in George’s office:
And George and Ruth’s closet is incredibly fun!
We cleared the closet shelf of all those pesky boxes, so they wouldn’t fall on the floor any more! And did I mention all the STRINGS in that bedroom??? The shoes, the fringe, the dangly things by the window! And the other closet – so many levels to climb on! And comfey towels to curl up on.

Here we are, just this last week, showing Ruth how to properly occupy a chair. The wicker chairs with the cushions are our second favorites. Our first favorite is in the bedroom at night, where we can all curl up together in the fluffy warm bed and sleep. We help George and Ruth get up when the stupid alarm goes off. We pounce on their feet, run across the bed, pounce on each other, and bounce off the walls and down the hall, purring madly.
Louie is silly and tries to keep Ruth’s lap to himself. Howie pretends to be serious, but he hogs George’s lap in the office.
George makes a sling with his sweatshirt, but those two boys just barely fit any more. Only one at a time – and sometimes I push them out!
Louie and I each weigh about seven pounds now. Howie is about 8 pounds! George and Ruth call him the buff kitty. I don’t know what buff means, but Howie has a lot of muscles. He still can’t catch the Evil Red Dot, though. I can jump higher after that Dot than he can – though he’s pretty good at catching the fluttering string thing; he growls when he catches it.
The vet lady said we were cute. I, Rio, am becoming quite beautiful! Those boys are so silly, especially when I chase them, and pounce on them from under the fringe. Mmmmm. Fringe…
I am SO HAPPY you found this home for us! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
